As in dynamic muscular activity, to support one's body may be regarded as the static workload. An examination is made of the relationship between heart rate and oxygen uptake of three male graduate students in static working postures (sitting, squatting and standing).
Though it has been believed that there exists a linear relationship between heart rate and oxygen uptake, this thesis shows that both have no relationship in the case of static postures, and that they may depend upon the characteristics of postures rather than the static workload. These results are discussed analytically.
The additivity between static body postures and holding up one's hands at his maximum height is tested. Compared with the sum of energy expenditure in balancing one's body and holding up hands, the net rate of energy expenditure of performing them simultaneously is equivalent.
In the case of static postures, the importance of the awareness of the characteristics and relevance of the measures is discussed.
인간의 작업은 동적(dynamic) 작업과 정적(static) 작업으로 나눌 수 있다. 이제까지 동적 작업의 경우에는 맥박과 산소 소비량이 선형 관계를 갖는다고 알려져 왔지만, 일반적으로는 모든 작업 부하(workload)에 대해서 선형 관계가 있다고 알려져 있는 실정이다.
한편으로는 동적 작업과 정적 작업, 동적 작업과 동적 작업의 동시 수행의 경우에 Energy 소비의 독립성에 대해 연구가 선행되었다.
이 논문에서는 신체의 자세 유지를 정적 작업 부하로 간주 할 경우, 인체의 맥박과 산소 소비량의 선형 관계를 검증하였다. 이때, 맥박과 산소 소비량이 반드시 비례하지는 않으며 작업 부하보다는 자세의 특성에 따르는 심폐 기능에 더 좌우된다는 결론을 얻었다.
또 Energy 소비면에서 볼 때, 작업 자세 중에 손을 높히 들어 작업하는 것은 몸통의 균형을 유지하는 것과는 상호 독립적 이라는 사실을 지적하였고, 이처럼 자세 등에 따라 크게 좌우 되는 정적 작업의 경우에는 생리학적 척도의 기능과 적합성을 숙지하고 사용하는 것이 특히 중요하다는 점을 지적하였다.
