This study develops a cost model in a multi-model production system considering labor and incompletion cost. We assume that each work element time is independently and normally distributed.
A heuristic line balancing solution is proposed for the model.
Comparison with a previously developed method through example problems shows that the proposed solution reduces the cost by 3% on the average with almost equal computing time.
