Three-dimensional slow viscous flow due to the edge-on translation of a disc parallel to an infinite plant is studied on the basis of Stokes' approximation. The problem is reduced to a mixed boundary value problem determining three harmonic functions from which the flow field can be obtained. From the formal expressions for the harmonic functions, the force and moment acting on the disc are determined. The pressure and the shear stress distributions on the disc are also calculated.
