A small-scale packet switching network of three nodes is designed and implemented in order to study the performance of the switching network on our laboratory. The network structure and protocols are based on CCITT Recommendations.
In this thesis, a parametric terminal protocol that is a kind of terminal protocols is designed and implemented so as to support several asynchronous terminals. In the parametric terminal protocol, the terminal interface called "PAD" is implemented according to CCITT Recommendation X.3, X.28. X.29 which controls the remote PAD is also implemented. This protocol is necessary for accessing the host computer mainly.
The performance and function of implemented PAD are discussed. Finally the call capacity is measured.
