The Metropolitan International Kimpo Airport as the main gateway of the nation had been expanded to cover the aviation demand to 1985. However, from the viewpoint of the today's size of air transportation and the prospects, the present facilities will not provide the passenger and freight capacity needed to meet the demand projected for the next twenty years after 1985 and the practical conditions will not permit a large scale expansion. And an air transportation will play a vital role in maintaining the dynamic growth of the national economy.
Consequently, from the above fact the new metropolitan international airport has to be developed for a long term view. Therefore in this study, it will be dealt with the various considerations and the technique of the rational analysis for the economic feasibility study on the site selection for the new metropolitan international airport, with the consequence of more effective economic analysis on airport development. An economic analysis of the airport development can be used as the same concept that the location of new airport must selected to maximize an efficiency of investment from the national viewpoint.
The subjected involved in this thesis can be divided into as follows.

ㆍ Forecast of the aviation demand.
ㆍ The basic techniques for measuring the economic benefits and costs (with the without test concept).
