The acidity of liquid, that is pH value, is an important object of control in many industrial processes. And it is well known that pH control is very difficult problem, especially in multi-component system.
In this thesis, to develop pH control scheme for a multi-component system, a new algorithm was proposed through the mathmatical analysis of pH process. The proposed pH control algorithm has the advantage of stability, robustness and simplicity.
The new algorithm was studied using digital computer simulation. Simulation results show a good possibility of applying the algorithm to real pH control processes. Experimental investigation was performed using laboratory-scale apparatus interfaced with a microcomputer, and the control performance with the new algorithm was compared with that obtained by the conventional method.
Experimental results proved that the proposed algorithm was more effective, yielding better control performances than the conventional method.
