The dynamic characteristics of a two-stage four-way electro-pneumatic flow control valve is studied theoretically and experimentally to investigate the response and stability characteristics of the valve system.
The equations of motion of the valve system are derived and solved by digital computer simulation to find the design criteria.
It is found that main parameters that affect the response and stability of the system are as follows;
the spring constant of a pressure reducer spool (km), the spring constant of a main valve spool (Kp), the ratio of the volume of a pressure reducer pilot chamber to the area of a feedback restrictor (Vos/Ar) the ratio of the volume of a transient pressure feedback chamber to the area of a transient pressure feedback restrictor (Vt/Atr), the ratio of the area of a transient pressure feedback spool to that of a main valve spool (At/Am).
The experimental results are relatively good agreement with the theoretical results.
