Inviscid simple shear flow past an arbitrary body moving close to a plane is analized by making use of the method of matched asymptotic expansions.
For the flow past a semi-circular cylinder or a hemi-sphere, detailed asymptotic analyses are carried out.
The lift coefficient and stream line patterns are obtained.
Direct numerical computations are used to verify the validity of the small gap asymptotic expansion for the semi-circular and the hemi-sphere case.
The result shows close agreement between the small gap theory and numerical results for small gap size($gap size{\le}0.01$).
