Optical Bistability and its applications such as optical memory, differential amplifier, gate are experimentally observed in hybrid bistable optical device using lanthanum-modified lead zirconate titanate (PLZT) electro-optic material.
A transient phenomenon of optical regenerative oscillation is obtained by applying the two feedback signals of different time constants to PLZT material.
Optical period doubling and chaos are experimentally seen in a hybrid bistable optical device with a delay in the feedback using liquid crystal light modulator. The higher period doubling ($8t_R$, $16t_R$) than that of the previous works are observed. These results are in excellent qualitative agreement with our own numerical calculations.
