The pore elimination process in liquid phase sintering of W-Ni-Fe and W-Ni-Cu base heavy alloys was investigated. The influence of such variables as compacting density, initial W particle size, composition on the pore elimination process was also investigated.
In this thesis special experimental technique was used for the purpose of forming artificial pores. Artificial pores could be formed by large Ni particles addition to the mixture.
Artificial pores were thought to have been eliminated such three kinds of methods.
First, the elimination of artificial pores could be made by that only liquid filled up the pores. Second, it could be made by that liquid-grain mixture filled up the pores. And third, it could be made by that liquid dragged some grains from around the pore when the pores were filled up with the liquid.
Composition and compacting density had an influence on the artificial pores elimination process. But initial W particle size was thought to have had no influence on the artificial pores elimination process.
