This thesis deals with the design of a servo control system for a lathe with two simultaneously controlled axes.
More specifically a velocity and axis-position control system is designed and implemented for DC servo motors of a lathe.
The position control unit is of a digital type where the reference is fed from the interpolator as a sequence of pulses, while the successive signals are processed in analog fashion.
The axis velocity is proportional to the pulse frequency and its position to the number of reference pulses.
The pulsewidth-modulated amplifier is designed and implemented as a power amplifier for the DC servo motors.
