A resident controller system that processes a graphics package (PLOT PACKAGE) in Printronix 300 Line Matrix Printer has been designed and implemented.
It receives high-level commands from the host computer (CROMENCO system) and after processing each command, sends binary dot patterns to the printer.
By doing so, the processing required for graphics has been off-loaded from the host computer leading to an increased throughput on the one hand.On the other, the machine dependency of graphics package has been eliminated.
In the procedure of implementing the system, software testing methods have been deviced and as a service routine, RAM-test and DISK-test program has been developed.
Also, considerations were made for future expansion of system's functions.
Printronix line printer 내에서 graphics package를 processing하는 controller틀 설계하고 제작하였다. 그것은 host computer에서 high-level commands를 받아서 package를 처리한 다음 최종으로 printer에 dot patterns 을 내보낸다. 그럼으로써 그래픽에 필요한 processing이 host computer에서 off-load 되어 throughput이 증가하였고 package의 machine dependency가 제거되었다.
제작과정에서 software로 test 하였고 RAM-test, DISK-test routine이 개발되었다. 또한 기능의 확장을 위한 고려를 했다.
