In recent year, almost companies work through IT System but they don’t have any preparation for interruptions by unexpected situations or have very simple plans that have been not tested. If IT System of companies stop working by a disaster at the same time, they couldn’t continue their business any more. Even though preparing for disaster is an important agenda, almost organizations have been limited understanding of a protecting their IT System. Thus, the objective of this paper is how plan to work without discontinue a business by disasters. For introducing an importance of a business continuity plan (BCP), and Information Technology (IT) disaster recovery (DR), this paper studied theories of BCP and DR then, researched a real case in Korea based on this theories. The researching had been done by interviews of company’s C-Level composed big companies and small businesses (SMB) in Korea.
As a result, this paper not only explored the difference of conditions for conducting a BCP and DR between big and small companies, but also recommended a plan for SMB. The recommendation is not a very new theory, but the minimum executive plan. Nevertheless, this is an essential that SMB will continue their business.
최근 정보화 시대로 접어들면서 기업, 기관들은 정보시스템 의존도가 높아지고 있다. 그러나 정보시스템 활용과 의존도에 비해 시스템을 보호하고자 하는 의지는 상당히 낮은 것이 사실이다. 하지만 기업과 기관의 모든 정보가 데이터화 되고 정보시스템으로 운영되는 현재 상황에서 예상치 못한 재해나 유사한 피해로 인해 한 순간 모든 데이터가 사라져 더이상 기업의 운영이 어려워질 수 있는 위험도 높아지고 있다. 재해로 인한 피해로 인해 운영이 중단된 후 빠른 시일 내에 업무 연속이 이루어지지 않으면 고객, 주주 등의 신뢰 하락으로 인해 기업의 운명은 장담할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 재해로 인한 정보시스템 복구 과정을 연구하였고 세부 내용은 다음과 같다. 1) 재해 복구, 업무연속성 계획의 이론적 배경 2) 재해 상황에서의 복구 과정 및 성공적인 업무연속성 유지의 국내 실제 사례 연구 3) 국내 BCP, DRP 현황을 인터뷰를 통해 알아보고 상대적으로 의식과 준비 과정이 미흡한 중소기업을 위한 업무연속성 계획 모델 제시.
연구의 결과 국내에서 잘 알려지지 않은 실제 사례를 중심으로 모범적인 계획을 제시했다는 점과 중소기업을 위한 실천적 모델을 제시했다는 점이 유의미했지만 많지 않은 실제 사례들로 인해 더 많은 사례 연구가 이루어지지 않은 점은 아쉬움으로 남는다. 하지만 본 연구가 국내 기업들에게는 취약한 재해복구계획, 업무연속성 계획의 중요성을 알리는 역할을 할 수 있기를 바란다.
