This paper deals with the submonitor of the XCOM, which provides for several requirements of the XPL program ; (string I/O, direct access file I/O, time of day, TRACE, UNTRACE, and EXIT etc.)
This submonitor have been implemented under operating system OS/MVS of IBM system/3032 in KIST.
When XCOM was designed, there did not exist OS/360, OS/370, or OS/MVS. And thus generated XPL object code by the XCOM is not executable form under OS/360, OS/370, or OS/MVS without submonitor. Submonitor can place this generated XPL object code in the executable form and transfer control to the XPL object code under OS/360, OS/370, or OS/MVS.
