Word processing is widely acknowledged as a concept whose time is now. They are used to perform data capture, text editing, and document filing, retrieval, and generating operations.
In this thesis, the development of Wordprocessing system for Hangul is described. And, it is suggested that the Hangul keyboard and code should be unified in order to reduce confusion arising from non-standardization. Each Hangul character in Hangul Wordprocessing system is composed of 33 phonemes (14 consonants, 14 vowels and 5 double consonants) with satisfactorily good quality.
There are four types of functions normally performed on the Hangul Wordprocessing system : entering text, indexing, document maintenance. The principal features of the system can be grouped under each function, although there is considerably overlapping.
Entering Features :
· Automatic carriage return and line adjustment.
· Full adjustable random margin and tab selection stored with the document.
· Automatic tabulation for indented text.
· Positioning to end of document.
· Glossary function.
· Switch codes for simplified from letter generation.
· Rubout function.
· Automatic line centering.
Editing feature :
· Overstrike capability.
· Insert and deleting by letters, lines, paragraph.
· Repositioning of line, paragraph.
· Global search and replacement of a specified word or phrase.
Indexing feature :
· Index generation.
Document maintenance feature :
· Document deleting.
· Document merge.
· Document name display capability.
