The objectives of this thesis are to improve the convergence properties of an ADFE for 8-level system, and to investigate the problems in the design and implementation.
For the first purpose, the influence of the step size variation in the steepest Descent Technique has been investigated by computer simulation. In the iterative process of tap adjustment, a suboptimum step size sequence is obtained from the observation that given the present tap gain in the convergence sequence, a good next tap gain is the nearest one to the optimum tap gain. The approximation of this sequence is shown to give much better performance than a fixed constant step size.
For the second purpose, an Analog, Hybrid ADFE was designed and implemented. The problems occurred in experiment are fully discussed.
Equalizer의 수렴속도를 증가시키기 위한 방안이 연구되었다.
Suboptimum Step Size가 컴퓨터 Simulation에 의해 계산되었으며 이 값의 추세로부터 이 Step Size의 근사값을 설정하였다. 이 값은 지수함수 형태의 감소 곡선에 맞게 정하는 것이 유리하며 이러한 Step Size를 사용하여 Step Size가 고정되어 있는 경우에 비해 빠른 수렴속도를 얻을 수 있음을 보였다.
8-Level 신호에 대한 Adaptive Decision Feedback Equalizer가 시험제작 되었으며 그 설계 및 실험과정에서 발생하는 문제들이 검토되었다. 과도 현상 및 이상 파형이 발생하여 Steady State에서의 동작을 방해하는 요인이 되었으나 Training Mode에서는 정상 동작을 얻을 수 있었다.
