According to the development of automatic machine tool and Numerical control(NC) machine tool, the necessity of Automatic Tool changer(ATC) was inevitable. But, in the past, ATC is larger in the size and complex in the construction. Therefore, for converting the existing machine tool into NC, it is necessary to design a new ATC which is cheap, simple and small.
Design of a small ATC which could fit in with the tool post of an existing lathe(AVS 2013/17, LODGE \& SHIPIEY) is investigated. The maximum size of the ATC is limited due to the space requirement of the tool post of the lathe.
A 4-Position hydraulic ATC and the corresponding control circuit are designed and made, in which the position-sensing is performed by a light emitting diode-photo transister.
The test of the ATC indicates that the performance is relatively satisfactory. Further studies on the optimum size and speed of the ATC which could fit the existing machine tools are recommeded.
자동공작기계 (automatic machine tool) 및 NC 공작기계의 발달과 함께 자동공구교환장치 (automatic tool changer) 의 필요성은 필연적이며 거기에 따라 많을 발전을 했다. 그렇지만 부피가 크고 복잡하여 기존 공작기계를 NC화 하는데는, 값싸고 간단하며 부피가 작은 새로운 ATC의 설계가 필요하다.
따라서 기존선반 (과학원에 있는 LODGE and SHIPLEY 의 AVS 2013/17 선반) 의 tool post 의 크기에 맞추어서, 유압을 이용한 액츄에타와 Photo cell 을 이용한 콘트롤 회로를 써서 ATC 를 설계 제작하여 만족할만한 결과를 얻었다. 또 더욱 소형화할 수 있고 교환속도도 향상시킬 수 있는 개선된 설계를 제시하였다.
