A microwave oven is a kind of facilities for cooking, reheating and thawing many foods speedily. The source of wave is a tube called magnetron.
There are three arduous problems in manufacturing the oven.
They are the efficiency of the power source, the uniformity of the fields in the cavity and the safety which comprises the shielding of the leaking fields. The former two problems are dealt with in this paper.
Utilizing the concept of modes in the cavity, the optimal dimension is seeked. And assuming that the fields in the cavity is excited with a probe, the condition for the minimum reflection and for the maximum uniformity is acquired. The position of minimum reflection is calculated and measured.
