Foam formation was investigated in Slag-Quartz-$Na_2CO_3$ system. Blast furnace slag ccontained sulphur compounds as sluphate and sulphide used as gas for foaming agent.
Microstructural and X-ray diffraction analysis on foam formation in fired slag batch were also described.
The effect of composition, slag particle size, temperature and soaking time on foam size and distribution were studied.
The increment of $Na_2O$ content in composition lowered initial foam formation temperature and enhanced foam growth.
Slag particle size decreased, average foam size also decreased.
Temperature and soaking time influenced the foam growth resulted from the increasing the glass phase and gas evaluation.
