An interactive system, which can fit a curve on a set of data and plot a user defined function of the form y=f(x), is studied in this thesis. The ability to display data points as well as the graph of fitted curve in the same area and a wide variety of transformations applicable to data points allow an interactive approach to curve fitting. A set of basic plotting functions such as axis drawing, plot symbol definition, etc. were included in the system to free users from the details of the equipment involved in addition to the ability to display some user defined functions.
The system also supports file manipulation. Files can be created for graphic out and they can be modified afterwards. Users interact with this system by using predefined commands, which are in natural language form.
이 논문에서는 일상용어에 가까운 command를 통해서 사용자는 curve fitting이나, y=f(x)의 식의 계산을 interactive하게 할 수 있는 방법에 대해서 썼다. 그래프를 그릴 수 있는 단말장치인 Tektronix 4010을 병용할 수 있게 하여 사용자의 편의를 도모케 하였다. 이로 인해서 이 체제를 사용하고자 하는 사람은 data를 가지고 curve fitting을 하고 그 결과를 data와 같은 화면에 그래프로 나타낼 수 있어서 결과를 판단하는데 이 체제는 도움을 줄 수 있다. 또한 y=f(x)의 식의 값이 x가 변함에 따라 변하는 모양을 그래프로 그릴 수 있게 했으며, Tektronix 4010이 갖는 특성을 보완하고 그의 사용의 효과를 높이는 방법으로 그래프를 그리기 위한 file을 만듬과 아울러 command에 의해서 그 file을 수정할 수 있게 해서 computer의 사용의 효율성을 높이게 했다.
