Presented in this paper is a scheme for design, modeling and analysis of an FAS for Video Tape Recorder(VTR) assembly. VTR is a typical consumer electronics product. The proposed scheme is accomplished under the condition using physical systems such as standardized workcell and central part(or component) feeding system available for real use. For design of the FAS considered here needs two things - classification of parts by matching with the tools and allocation of tools and parts into the workcell. An FAS has very complex characteristics, so it should be modeled by modular approaches for consistent modeling. ACD is a modeling tool for modular modeling but it is not adequate for analysis the modeled system. On the contrary, Petri net is adequate for analysis the modeled system but it is not a good one for modular modeling. Considering the above things we use both of them for modeling and analysis the FAS.
This paper consists of four phases : (1) Classification of components in VTR assemblies in order to make relations between tools and components ; (2) Constrution of FAS in case of considering single-model system ; (3) Constrution of FAS in case of considering multiple-model system ; (4) Modeling and analysis of the FAS. First phase enables to allocate the components to a workcell under the capacity of tool-attachment. Second and third phases present several alternatives for constructing the FAS and a guidance to choose one among them. Fourth phase is main research for giving a modular modeling scheme by using the ACD and presenting a rule for converting the ACD model to Petri net model and proposing a resolution scheme for solving the multiple conflict problem in Petri net model of the FAS and developing a PNE(Petri net executor) for testing the resolution scheme.
