Sliding on the screen is one of the most basic touchscreen operations. In practice, however, sliding opera-tions are not fully utilized for these GUI functions because sliding operations are mainly used for scrolling. In order to utilize sliding operation, we first collected touchscreen usage data from a user study and analyzed the features of sliding operations. One of the observations from the analysis was that the range of sliding is relative-ly long and sliding operations for less than 5mm were not common when they were performed for scrolling. An-other observation was that most of touch trajectories are one directional segment, and few strokes has the path back to first touch position. Based on these observations, we explored two methods, Slack-Scroll and homing gesture, to share sliding operations among scrolling and other GUI functions.
슬라이딩 동작은 터치 스크린에서의 동작 중 가장 기본적인 동작 중에 하나이다. 그러나 실 생활에서 슬라이딩 동작은 주로 스크롤링을 위해 사용되기 때문에 다른 GUI 기능에 완전하게 활용되지 못하고 있다. 위 논문은 슬라이딩 동작을 활용하기 위해 사용자 스터디를 통해 터치 스크린의 사용 데이터를 수집하고 슬라이딩 동작의 요소들을 분석하였다. 관찰된 사실 중에 하나는 슬라이딩의 움직임이 상대적으로 길고, 5mm이하의 움직임은 스크롤링에 잘 사용되지 않는 다는 사실이었다. 또 다른 사실은 스크롤링을 위한 대부분의 슬라이딩 동작의 궤적이 단방향이고 처음 시작했던 자리로 돌아오지 않는 다는 것이었다. 이러한 관찰에 기반하여 위 논문에서는 슬라이딩 동작을 스크롤링과 다른 GUI 기능에 동시에 활용하기 위해 지연된 스크롤링 방법과 귀소동작을 연구하였다.
