Crowd-sourced design provides crowd-scale collaborations even with diverse range of expertise beyond participatory design and co-design. At the scale of the crowd, management issues occur as complexity of collaboration increases. It is figured out that motivation of participants affect their creativity, participation and performance so crowd motivation has to be discussed to mangage crowd-sourced design properly. This thesis researches effects of motivation on participation and performance in crowd-sourced design in order to manage crowd-sourced design properly. Competitive crowd-sourced design and collaborative crowd-sourced design are dealt with and Loudsourcing and Quirky are selected as subject systems. Interviews and surveys are conducted with participants in those two systems about their motivation. Motivation elements of each system are figured out from high performer interview and important elements are established by asking common participants how agree on the opinions from interview in survey. In addition, effects of motivation elements on participation and performance are identified with stepwise multiple regression analysis. Motive for fun in Loudsourcing and motives for reward, duty, and social can encourage participation and performance in crowd-sourced design. Current motivation from fun, reward, and social has to be changed in proper way to promote participation and performance. Consequently it is also promote creativity in the long term. On the other hand, current motivation from duty encourage participation, performance and even creativity. It is caused by particular culture of collaboration which is requesting each other to participate specific projects. In addition, motives for fun and reward commonly promote creativity in both crowd-sourced design systems. In organizational level, competitive platform should improve autonomous participation environment and collaborative platform should improve compensating and communicative environment to encourage participation, performance and creativity in each platform.
크라우드소싱 기반 디자인은 기존 참여적 디자인, 공동 디자인(Co-design) 방법을 넘어 보다 다양하고 큰 군중 규모의 협업을 이룬다. 참여 군중들의 배경이 다양하기 때문에 군중 규모의 협업은 복잡하게 작동하고 이를 관리하는 것은 어렵다. 참여 구성원들의 동기부여 정도는 개개인의 창의성과 참여도 및 조직의 성과에 영향을 미친다고 밝혀져 있어 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인 내 군중들의 동기부여의 중요도는 더욱 부각된다. 올바른 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인 관리를 위해 본 논문에서는 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인의 참여 및 성과에 동기부여가 끼치는 영향을 연구하였다. 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인 대표 유형으로는 경쟁 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인과 협업 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인 두 가지로 밝혀졌다. 각 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인 연구 대상으로 선정된 라우드소싱과 퀄키의 참여자들에게 동기부여에 관한 인터뷰와 설문을 실시하였다. 인터뷰를 통해 각각의 시스템에서 성공적인 참여자들이 얻는 동기부여 요인들을 얻었고, 이 요인들에 일반 참여자들이 얼마나 동의하는지 설문을 통해 양적인 조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 중요 동기부여 요인들을 밝혀내었고 또한 동기부여 요인들과 시스템의 참여도와 성과와의 상관관계를 파악하였다. 상관관계 분석을 통해 라우드소싱과 퀄키 참여자들의 참여 시간, 참여 프로젝트 수, 참여 프로젝트에서 얻는 비중을 개개인의 동기부여 관리를 통해 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 밝혀냈다. 라우드소싱에서는 재미로 인한 동기를, 퀄키에서는 보상, 의무, 사교에 의한 동기 관리를 통해 해당하는 참여도 및 성과를 증진시키는 방안이 가능하다. 재미, 보상, 사교에 의한 현 동기부여를 단절하고 다른 방향으로 올바르게 독려하면 참여도 및 성과를 끌어올릴 수 있고 장기적으로는 창의성 또한 증진시킬 수 있다. 의무에 의한 현 동기부여는 군중들 상호 간에 프로젝트 참여 요청을 권하는 문화로부터 비롯되었는데 이를 장려하면 참여도, 성과, 창의성 모두 보다 더 증진시킬 수 있다. 그리고 재미와 보상에 의한 동기부여는 두 크라우드소싱 기반 디자인의 창의성 증진에 공통적으로 기여하고 있었다. 조직적인 차원에서 참여도, 성과, 창의성을 증진시키기 위한 창의적인 업무 환경을 조성하기 위해서는 경쟁 플랫폼의 경우 자율적인 참여 환경을 새롭게 개선해야 하고 협업 플랫폼의 경우 세심하고 투명한 보상 환경과 군중 및 팔로워들 간의 활발한 소통 환경을 개선해야 하는 사안이 있다.
