Impulse buying is very well-known behavior but still hard to define precisely. In this research, apart from previous research context earlier, slight different kind of perception, illustration, and interpretation about impulse buying will be discussed. In each area, construal level, self-focus, and regulatory focus are brought to show the relation on impulsive purchase. In the first experiment, construal level manipulation had a negative impact on impulse buying choice. In the second experiment, self-focus was hypothesized to have an interaction with construal level, which was not statistically supported. In the last experiment, regulatory focus was hypothesized to have an interaction with construal level, which was proven to have an impact on the feeling of “urge to buy”, but not with the behavioral intention. The implication of this paper concerns that the actual or potential influence of construal level and other variables exist toward impulse buying behavior. In a practical perspective, the meaning of this research is gathering more strength because construal level has broad aspects to apply in the marketing area.
충동구매는 잘 알려진 행동이나 정확한 정의를 내리기는 어렵다. 이 연구에서는 충동구매에 대해 소비자들이 어떻게 인지하고, 받아들이며, 해석하는 지에 따라 다각적으로 분석한다. 각각의 이슈에 대하여 해석수준이론, 자기초점, 그리고 조절 초점 이론을 적용시켜 전개해 보았다. 첫 번째 실험에서는 소비자의 해석수준이 충동구매 의사 결정에 있어 부정적인 영향을 끼치는 것이 관찰되었다. 두 번째 실험에서는 소비자의 해석수준과 자기 초점 간의 상호작용이 가정되었으나, 통계적으로 지지되지 못했다. 세 번째 실험에서는 소비자의 해석수준과 조절 초점 간의 상호작용을 가정했으며, 이것이 소비자가 느끼는 욕구에 대해서는 유의한 영향력을 가졌으나, 행동 의도에서는 유의한 결과를 보여주지 못했다. 이 연구는 해석수준이론, 그리고 여타 변수가 충동구매에 실제적으로, 혹은 잠재적으로 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지에 대해 연구했다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 또한, 실용적인 측면에서 해석수준이 다양한 분야에 적용될 수 있다는 점은 이 연구의 의미를 뒷받침한다.
