In this study, a computational model for the dynamic analysis of flexible belt transmissions is proposed that the variation of the angular velocity of driven pulley with respect to that of driving pulley can evaluated numerically. This model includes a simple analytical formula to find the tension of belt span and the losses of the velocity and power of driven pulley in multi-pulley system.
Using this model, two types of headphone stereo deck mechanism are investigated for various kinds of belt properties and tensions producing significant differences between them. Also the effects of the thermal expansion of the rubber belt as well as the mass moments of inertia of the pulleys are investigated.
