The purpose of this thesis is to study a method of loading a set of tools to machining centers in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS). It is assumed that each part to be manufactured is allowed to visit only one machining center for its entire processes. Thus during operations, any tool which is required by unavailable for the processing of a part must be borrowed after some waiting, if necessary, from other machining center or tool room. We also consider alternative operation (tool) and impose time penalty if tools are used for other than their primary operation.
The above problem is formulated as a integer program (IP) whose objective is to simultaneously determine the part group and set of tools for each machining center which gives the minimum number of tool transfers among the machining centers. For the IP, a heuristic solution procedure is proposed utilizing the similarity coefficient. The validity of the procedure is examined through the simulation of hypothetical problems. The test results are compared with those from an existing solution procedure in terms of the makespan and the number of the tools transfered.
본 연구에서는 유연생산시스템(FMS)에서 대체 공정(alternative operation)을 고려하여 부품과 공구들을 기계에 할당하는 문제를 다루고 있다. 이 시스템에서는 부품을 기계에 고정시키고 필요하면 공구를 다른 기계 또는 공구 창고에서 빌려와서 요구되는 모든 공정을 수행하게 된다. 만약 빌려올 공구가 다른 기계에서 사용되고 있다면 그 공구를 기다려야 한다.
여기서는 기다려야 될 공구의 고유 공정 시간보다는 긴 시간이 요구되지만 다른 공구로 필요한 공정을 대체할 수 있는 상황을 고려하여 공구의 이동횟수를 줄이고자 한다.
공구가 이동하는 횟수를 최소로 하기 위한 정수계획법(IP)모형을 제시하였고, 실제 문제의 해결을 위한 새로운 문제 해결 방법(heuristic solution procedures)을 개발하였다.
이 방법을 실제 문제에 적용시킨 결과, 대체 공정을 고려한 모형이 고려하지 않은 모형보다 좋은 생산성을 보여주었다.
