A database system supporting multi-user environment has been implemented using two phase locking. An improved mechanism that can dynamically regulate the number of processes for producing maximum throughput, called adaptive multiprogramming level control mechanism, is proposed on the designated multi-user database system. Some experiments have been carried out such as deadlock detection and conflict resolution schemes to show and find out their trends in terms of system throughput.
The experiments guarantees the correct operations in multi-user environment, and show that continuous deadlock detection and blocking policy produce better performance as deadlock detection and conflict resolution methods, respectively. The adaptive multiprogramming level control mechanism adopting continuous deadlock detection and blocking policy gives nearly maximum throughput with near optimal multiprogramming level.
동시성제어는 다중프로그래밍 환경에서 운영되는 데이타베이스 시스템에서 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 2단계 잠금기법(2PL)을 이용하여 동시성제어가 가능한 데이타베이스 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 2단계 잠금에는 여러가지 선택 가능한 세부기술들이 있는데 이 중 교착상태의 검출방법과 충돌해결 방법들을 구현하고 실험하였다. 다중 프로그래밍 수는 시스템의 성능에 크게 영향을 미치는 한 요인인데 최적의 다중프로그래밍 수를 제어하기 위한 하나의 메카니즘을 제안하고 본 시스템상에 구현하여 보았다. 여러 실험들에 의해 구현된 시스템이 제대로 동작함을 확인하였으며 교착상태의 해결방법으로는 연속적인 검출방법, 그리고 충돌해결방법으로는 블럭킹방법이 나옴을 볼 수 있었다. 실험적으로 증명된 가장 좋은 세부기법들을 도입한 본 시스템에서, 제안된 다중 프로그래밍 제어기법을 적용한 결과 거의 최적의 다중 프로그래밍 수에 점근하였으며 그 때의 시스템의 성능도 거의 최고치를 냄을 볼 수 있었다.
