In recent years, Social Network Service(SNS) have been gaining in popularity worldwide and increasingly implemented in work organization as a new tool for strengthening competitive advantage. Furthermore, The introduction of SNS for work purposes has evolved to “Enterprise Social Network Platforms(ESNP)” that enables a new method of communication, collaboration, knowledge management within the organization for firm performance. Even though ESNP are in the top agenda for many companies today, there have been limited understandings of the relationship between its usage and performance without considering multi-dimensional standpoint to investigate the value proposition of ESNP implementation. Thus, The objective of this study is to explore several factors what values increase the ESNP usage and that actually affect firm performance along with critical success factor for ESNP implementation. In exploring for ESNP usage in organization contexts, this study outlines a series of theoretically integrated research framework that examines influencing factors for ESNP usage, intermediate effects from the usage and correlations between usage and firm performance by setting relational, intellectual and emotional capital derived from social capital. Hence, This study conducted three comparative case analysis by dividing into organizational and individual dimension based on in-depth case study.
As a result, It confirmed that in the case of ESNP for work, Not only there are significant correlation between ESNP usage and firm performance but also the proposed factors on research model are considerable on the basis of hypothesis. Especially ESNP usage affects utilitarian for organization context rather than individual values such as reputation, hedonics and fun. It also found that the primary outcome of ESNP implementation is to cultivate knowledge management although the worker has a different usage purposes in organization. Finally, it identified the critical success factor for ESNP implementation that contribute to lay the groundwork for further research and to give a business-related guideline to make sure criteria for its adoption
최근 소셜 네트워크 서비스(SNS)는 전세계적으로 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 점차 기업에서도 이를 경쟁력 강화의 수단으로 이를 활용하는 사례가 증가하고 있다. 또한 업무를 목적으로 하는 SNS의 도입은 조직내의 업무성과를 위한 커뮤니케이션, 협업, 지식경영을 가능하게 하는 엔터프라이즈 소셜 네트워크 플랫폼(ESNP)으로 진화하는 추세이다. 오늘날 많은 기업에서 ESNP가 화두(話頭)가 되는 상황임에도 불구하고, 이에 대한 활용과 업무성과간 관계에 관한 연구는 제한적으로 이루어져 왔으며 다양한 관점을 기반으로 한 ESNP 구축 가치에 대한 연구는 미비한 상황이다.
따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 어떤 요인이ESNP사용에 영향을 미치는지, ESNP의 사용이 실제 업무성과에 유의한지를 검증하고 기업의 업무성과를 위한 ESNP 구축의 성공요인이 무엇인지 규명하는 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 ESNP 사용에 영향을 주는 요인으로 인하여 사용강도가 높아지고, 이것은 다시 조직의 사회적 자본인 관계적, 지적, 정서적 자본이 활성화 되어 사용자 만족과 업무성과로 이어지는 통합적 연구 프레임워크를 제안한다. 이를 위하여, 세 개의 실제 ESNP를 도입한 기업 비교 사례연구를 조직관점과 사용자관점으로 나누고 이 결과들을 심층적으로 상호 분석하였다. 그 결과, ESNP사용은 업무성과에 유의미한 영향을 끼친다는 연구가설을 입증하였고, 연구 모형에서 제시된 변수들이 유의함을 확인하였다. 특히 ESNP사용은 평판, 유희성, 업무처리 재미와 같은 개인 지향적 요인보다 조직 전체에 효용성에 영향을 주는 요인들이 업무성과에 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 그리고 ESNP 구축 목적은 다양하지만 주요 업무 성과는 업무조언 네트워크와 지식경영을 중심으로 달성되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 ESNP구축 성공요인을 규명 함으로써 관련연구의 이론적 토대와 도입을 고려하는 기업에게 실무적 시사점을 제공 하였다.
