As the smart devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, and other mobile devices are becoming common and popular, mobile business from mobile apps is boosting up. However, only few mobile apps achieves financial success. In this thesis, we empirically analyze all of the products on the top 100 gross chart in the Korea App store in Apple using regression model focusing on financial success. Firstly, we find that company size, price, and the use of social-network-services platform are important when the mobile apps enter the top ranking chart. Second, when the mobile apps rank higher than the previous position, the release date, the previous ranking, the latest updated day, and the price need to be considered as main factors. Third, the use of social-network-services platform, the fluctuation in ranking, the update cycle, and the price are highly related to the sustainability of mobile apps in top 100 chart. In conclusion, through the analysis on the factors of successful mobile apps, we suggest the strategies of success factors of mobile apps.
스마트폰의 대중화로 모바일 앱을 이용한 비즈니스가 활성화되고 있다. 하지만 대부분의 앱은 사용자의 선택을 받지 못하고 일부 앱만이 성공하고 있다. 성공한 앱은 앱 상점에서 높은 순위를 기록하는 앱이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 수익적인 측면에서 앱의 성공에 미치는 요인을 분석하고자 애플 앱스토어의 매출액 순위 100위를 기록한 앱을 대상으로 높은 순위에 진입한 앱의 특징을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 첫 번째, 앱이 앱 상점에서 상위권 순위에 진입하는 요소를 살펴보았다. 두 번째, 과거의 앱의 특성이 앱 상점에서 순위의 상승과 하락에 미치는 요소를 살펴보았다. 세 번째, 앱이 앱 상점에서 상위권 순위를 유지하기 위한 지속성에 미치는 요소를 살펴보았다. 결과적으로 이 연구를 통하여 성공한 앱의 특성을 확인할 수 있으며 모바일 앱이 성공할 수 있는 전략적인 제언을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
