The coustomers come to encounter various kinds of product information everyday. Therefore, they demand for more effective display methods to obtain more useful product information. The research becomes valuable at this point, in the light of providing the customers with more useful product information according to their preferences and inclination. according to their preferences and inclination. The study applies theories such as the mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model that aim to interpret the user inclination. Through the effective use of these theories, the study aims to analyze the customer inclination, and apply it to the product information design.
The goal of this study is to understand the charctersitics of the product information and the product information design ; to understand the mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model, and find effetive application plans ; to understand the relationship between the mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model concerning the product information for customers ; to introduce the applications in product information design by examing the relationship with the customer value levels and concumer inclination.
The first chapter describes the purpose, needs, contents and methods of the study. The second chapter defines the information and the information design, and conceptualizes the product attributes and consumer values that also are core elements in the mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model through reference analyese. The third chapter looks into the ways to apply the preceding applications of mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model to the design area. The fourth chapter introduces the application model to the design area. The fourth chapter introduces the applicaion models for finding and solving problems. In the fifth chapter about the case study, the customer evaluation is conducted to cateorize various aspects of product information. For the interpretation of the evaluaiton result the Value Chain and FCB grid model was generally applied.
The study sought to the ways to apply the mean-end chain theory and FCB grid model in the product information design. The study suggested design approaches in the research of customer's product information preferences through the FCB grid axis division, through which the correlations between the customer value levels and the product information was obtained.
