The Smart Card Technology is having an impressive influence on our every-day living, especially in the transportation collection field like bus fare and subway fare. Since then, many researches have kept trying to study the factors affecting the Smart Card technology acceptance.
The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is one of the most powerful frameworks of analyzing the user’s technology acceptance and affecting factors to user’s acceptance. In this study we were interested in the user’s acceptance of Contact-less Smart Card. A new factor called“Compatibility” is added and introduced to account for more feasible explanation of our user’s technology acceptance over Contact-less Smart Card.
The existing researches focused on the user’s acceptance related to general contact smart card
technology using the TAM, but this paper is focused on the user’s acceptance of specific kind of smart card (the contact-less smart card) using the extended TAM. This study can be meaningful to the study of Smart Card technology acceptance on the ground that in spite of slowed revolution of contact smart card, the contact-less smart card has been spread universally as well as into the our daily life-style.
This study shows internal factors around the user acceptance of this technology and outside factors affecting internal factors, which can influence indirectly to the ultimate user acceptance. The designed study model was deduced from previous study of smart card acceptance and was analyzed through the survey with the using contact-less smart cards.
