In recent days, smartphones have been emerging into our daily life. For this reason, we often use smartphones when we are with other people. In that case, current situations affect our usage of smartphones. When we are working with colleagues, our smartphones may be supporting tools during our work. By using the characteristics of current situations, such as place and type of activity, smartphone applications can understand intents of users more and application developers can improve user experience from the applications. However, two of the characteristics, the type of the current activity and relationships between people, are hard to recognize because they cannot be seen or heard by a smartphone. To infer them, in this thesis, we propose a mobile system for inferring the type of the current social activity and relationships between people. The system recognize performing social activities and estimate relationships using the history of recognized social activities. To infer the type of the current social activity, the system estimates probabilities of activities of the given place and nearby people data using ground truths and find the most similar situation and predict the activity that is most probable to recognize the current activity. To estimate the relationships among people in social activities, we suggest to use activity count vector as a feature vector, and we propose the metric training and the clustering method to infer relationships. We evaluate the performance of the system with 8 graduate school students for 3 weeks. The system shows 97% of accuracy in classifying types of social activities and 92% of accuracy in estimating relationships among the people in social activities.
최근 들어 스마트폰이 우리의 삶 속으로 들어오면서, 우리는 다른 사람과 함께 있을 때도 스마트폰을 자주 쓰고 있다. 그런 경우에, 현재의 상황이 우리의 스마트폰 사용에 영향을 주게 된다. 예를 들면 우리가 동료들과 함께 있으면, 스마트폰은 업무 지원의 용도가 될 것이다. 장소나 활동의 종류 같은 현재 상황의 특성을 이용하면, 스마트폰 어플리케이션이 사용자의 의도를 좀 더 알 수 있고, 이를 이용하여 어플리케이션 개발자가 사용자 경험을 더 끌어낼 수 있을 것이다. 그러나, 특성 중 두 개, 현재 사용자의 사회 활동과 사용자간의 관계는 알아내기 힘들다. 왜냐면 그 것들은 보이거나 들리지 않기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는, 그 것들을 추론하기 위한 모바일 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 장소와 함께 있는 사람의 정보를 이용해 현재의 사회 활동을 추론하고, 그 것들의 기록을 이용해 사람들과의 관계를 알아낸다. 8명의 대학원생에 대한 3주간의 실험을 통해, 이 시스템은 97%의 사회 활동에 대한 정확도와, 92%의 관계를 맞추는 정확도를 보여 다.
