The Industry cluster is one of the important means of innovation that companies are based on the manufacturing industry. Because companies can lead to the logistic improvement, gathering the investment partners, the parts clustering and the government supports through the cluster, we can say that the building of the cluster is closely related to the development of industry.
I had analyzed the growth trend by sector and size of companies that were related to the display indus-try in the cluster, in order to analyze the development patterns of the Tangjeong LCD cluster. Also It had analyzed the structural characteristics of the cluster’s value chain and the characteristic changes of the clus-ter in terms of R&D investment.
By the research methods, I had found out companies related to display industry in the Cheonan / Asan containing Tangjeong on the basis of the Korea Standard Industrial Classification Code (KSIC Code) and had selected 131 companies that had obtained the earnings data from NICE Credit Rating Information Co. I have wanted to study the dynamic changes of the cluster growth in the long term. So I had used Sales, Oper-ating Profit (ratio), Net Income (ratio), Number of Employees, R&D Investment, R&D Intensity as the measurement variables and I had conducted time-series trend analysis based on earnings data of 12 years from 2000 to 2011.
As a result, we know that building and growth of Tangjeong LCD cluster has impacted on the more posi-tive effect to the growth of small businesses among display companies in the cluster and equipment and cir-cuit components companies in terms of value chain have developed into the center of Tangjeong LCD Clus-ter. Through the R&D Investment proportion was high level at the early stages and has lowered after stabi-lized stages, we could find that Tangjeong LCD cluster has been going to change from research cluster at the early stage to the productive cluster at the latter stage. Therefore, for the sustainable growth, I think that the growth of panel parts and material companies are necessary and it is necessary to develop the technology competitive in the global market through the extension of R&D investment.
산업 클러스터는 제조업 기반 기업에게 중요한 혁신 수단 중 하나이며 기업은 이를 통해 물류 개선, 투자파트너 규합, 부품 클러스터링, 정부 지원 등을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 만큼 산업의 발전과 클러스터 구축과는 밀접한 관계가 있다고 할 수 있다.
본 연구는 탕정 LCD 클러스터의 발전 패턴을 분석하기 위하여 클러스터 내 디스플레이 관련 기업의 업종 및 규모별 성장추이 분석을 실시하였고 클러스터 내 밸류체인의 구조적 특성 및 R&D 투자 관점의 클러스터 성격 변화 등을 분석하였다.
연구방법은 표준산업 분류코드(KSIC코드)를 기준으로 탕정지역이 포함되어 있는 천안/아산 지역에 입주한 디스플레이 관련 기업을 파악하고 NICE신용평가정보(주)에서 기업실적 데이터를 확보한 131개 기업을 대상으로 선정하고 측정변수로는 매출액, 영업이익(률), 당기순이익(률), 종업원수, R&D투자액, R&D집중도를 활용하였으며 2000년부터 2011년까지 12년 동안의 기업 실적 데이터를 바탕으로 시계열적 추이 분석을 실시하여 클러스터의 성장에 대한 동태적인 측면을 장기적인 관점에서 고찰하고자 하였다.
연구결과, 탕정 LCD 클러스터의 구축 및 성장은 클러스터 내 디스플레이 관련 기업 중 특히 중소기업의 성장에 더 긍정적인 영향을 주었으며 밸류체인 측면에서 장비와 회로 부품 관련 기업 중심의 성장을 해왔음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 R&D 투자 관점에서 클러스터 초기단계에는 연구개발 투자 비중이 높았다가 안정화 단계 이후 연구개발투자 비율이 낮아지는 현상이 파악되어, 탕정 클러스터는 초기의 연구중심에서 후기에는 생산중심 클러스터로 변화해가고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 탕정 클러스터의 지속적인 성장을 위해서는 패널 부품과 소재 관련 기업의 성장이 필요하고 R&D 투자 확대를 통해 세계시장에서의 기술 경쟁력을 키워가야 할 것으로 판단된다.
