Human exhaled breath has hundreds of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) gases which use as biomarkers of special diseases. For example, acetone is the biomarker of diabetes and toluene is the biomaker of lung cancer. Metal oxide semiconductor gas sensor is cheap and can make small size sensor, so it is considered as good candidate of portable sensor for diagnosis of diseases. However, to apply it as disease diagnosis sensor, sensitivity, selectivity and response time shoud be improved. Increasing surface area of active material can enhance the sensitivity because metal oxide semiconductor gas sensor`s reaction occurs on surface of active material. Adding catalyst not only improves the sensitivity and response time but also enhances the selectivity. Therefore, in this study, author make porous WO3 nanofibers which is well known as n-type material to increase the surface area and add and embed the Pd nanoparticles in WO3 nanofibers as a catalyst. Author test the gas sensing properties in highly humid condition (85-95 RH%) which is similar to human breath and various temperature range. Sensing gases are toluene and H2S.
