Since light is visible yet intangible material, it has only been used as means of expression, not as manipulation target in design area. Projector-camera systems can be used to enable light to be touchable by recognizing user’s gestures in real-time and showing reaction in the form of light to these gestures. However, a method to make interaction with light intuitive and reality-based is lacking. In this research, Touchable Spotlight is proposed which is a new interaction technique that enables users to manipulate light with touches through augmenting corporeality. As materiality gives a clue for understanding interaction with materials, corporeality can be a clue for intuitively understand interaction with light and make the interaction more reality-based.
