The revolutionary development of the info-communication technology has influenced the way we live, and is even greatly changing the way we learn. Incidentally smart education has risen as a new education paradigm and South Korea’s Education Science and Technology Committee has proposed the complete execution of smart education from 2015 as its goal. In such times, there needs to be a research on the new education for art appreciation in the smart education environment.
The purpose of this research is to develop an art appreciation class adequate for smart education and related systems. For this, research on smart education and its environment was conducted along with the analysis of art appreciation education in South Korea’s elementary schools. Based on this study, student-centered art appreciation class for smart education environment for third graders was developed. The class, with its basis on the method of viewing mock art museum, was developed so that the student becomes the curator of the virtual exhibit. Following the class directives, the ‘Virtual Exhibition Curating System’ was developed.
Third graders of elementary schools were tested with the developed system in class for observational studies, questionnaires, and professional interviews, to analyze the results and prove the possibility in application in real life. According to the analysis, student-centered active participation in the art appreciation activities could be observed throughout the class, and the possibilities of the application of ‘Virtual Exhibition Curating System’ could be checked. Also, through the questionnaires, increase in the interest of artworks, art appreciation activity, and exhibitions could be seen in the students, thus proving the usefulness of the newly developed class.
‘Virtual Exhibition Curating System’ proposed in this research is expected to set a guideline in developing art appreciation classes and system within the future smart education environment by applying the various researches related to the smart education environment and South Korean art appreciation education.
정보통신기술의 혁신적 발전은 인간 삶의 방식에 많은 영향을 주며 교육 분야에까지 커다란 변화를 가져오고 있다. 이에 따라 스마트 교육이 새로운 교육 패러다임으로 등장하며 우리나라 교육과학기술부는 2015년 스마트 교육의 전면 실행을 새로운 목표로 제시하였다. 이러한 시점에서 스마트 교육환경에서의 미술감상을 위한 새로운 교육에 관한 연구가 필요한 실정이다.
이에 본 연구는 스마트 교육환경에 적합한 미술감상 수업을 설계하고 이와 관련된 시스템 개발을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 스마트 교육 및 그 환경에 관한 연구와 국내 초등학교의 미술감상교육을 분석하였다. 이러한 연구를 바탕으로 초등학교 3학년을 대상으로 하여 스마트 교육환경에 적합한 학습자 중심의 능동적인 미술감상을 위한 수업을 설계하였다. 수업은 모의 미술관법(Method of viewing mock art museum)을 바탕으로 학생이 직접 미술관의 큐레이터가 되어 가상으로 전시를 제작하는 내용으로 설계되었다. 설계된 수업지도안에 따라 ‘가상 전시 큐레이팅 시스템(Virtual Exhibition Curating System)’을 개발하였다.
현장에서의 활용 가능성을 검증하기 위해, 실제 초등학교 3학년을 대상으로 설계한 시스템을 활용하여 수업을 진행하였고, 관찰조사, 설문조사, 전문가인터뷰를 통해 결과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 수업 전반에 걸쳐 학생 중심의 능동적인 감상활동이 진행되었고, ‘가상 전시 큐레이팅 시스템’의 활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 설문조사를 통해 미술 작품, 감상 활동, 미술관에 대한 학생들의 흥미도가 향상되었음이 증명되어 수업의 효용성을 확인할 수 있었다.
본 연구에서 제안된 ‘가상 전시 큐레이팅 시스템’은 스마트 교육환경과 국내 미술감상교육에 관한 다양한 연구를 반영하여, 앞으로 스마트 교육환경에서의 미술감상을 위한 수업 및 시스템 개발에 있어 가이드라인을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
