This thesis examines the term structure of real interest rate and expected inflation of Korea. We use the model of Ang, Bekaert and Wei(2008) with regime switches, time-varying prices of risk, and inflation. We find that unconditional real rate term structure in Korea is flat around 1.25%. Some term structures of real interest rate are downward sloping but the term structures of nominal interest rate are always upward sloping due to inflation compensation. Our results also shows that the real interest rate is quite variable at short maturities but smooth and persistent at long maturities and weak Mundell-Tobin effect in Korea.
