ELW market, initiated by liquidity providers, allows individual investors to take only buy-positions, forcing the higher prices of ELW than those of options, which investors take both positions. It is heavily occupied by scalpers, directional traders with excessively short-term time frame.
Based on the hypothesis that ELW demands are also driven by other factors than prices, this thesis focuses on identifying those factors and gauging the differences between the speculative and non-speculative group of investors. Price differences between options and ELWs, measured by implied volatilities, were relatively significant in this group indicating the impact of speculative tendency.
Among the factors known as signals used by ELW market participants such as gearing, delta, trading volume, LP ratio, trading volume(daily average cumulative), price differences, most of the factors were significant in explaining the variation of net buy-positions. Also there exists different tendency between speculative and non-speculative group of investors.
본 연구의 목적은 ELW 투자에 영향을 끼치는 요인을 ELW와 옵션의 가격 차이 관점에서 확인하는 것이다. ELW 시장은 유동성 공급자 중심의 시장으로 투자자는 매수 포지션만 취할 수 있는 것이 특징이다. 양방향 거래가 이루어지는 옵션에 비해 ELW는 높은 가격대가 형성되어 있다.
또한, 투기 성향이 짙은 단타매매자, 소위 Scalper라 불리는 투자자들의 거래가 시장에서 높은 비중을 차지하고 있다. ELW 가격은 동일 만기, 행사가를 지닌 옵션에 비해 비싸며 LP 제도와 투기자에 의해 가격이 교란될 여지가 있다. 이러한 면에서 볼 때 ELW 투자자들은 가격이 아닌 다른 요소에 의해 ELW를 매수한다고 생각할 수 있다.
본 연구의 목적은 ELW 가격과 옵션 가격을 비교해보고, 가격 차이와 더불어 ELW의 특성을 고려한 요인을 추가로 설정하여 ELW 투자에 기여하는지를 확인하는 것이다. 추가적으로 투기 성향의 집단과 그 외의 집단으로 구분하여 차이가 있는지의 여부를 분석한다.
