The purpose of this study is to apply valuation techniques to estimate a cyclical industry. A cyclical industry is one whose earnings demonstrate a repeating pattern of significant increase and decrease. Cyclicality is largely driven by industry factors, typically related to capacity. So it is difficult to estimate this industry.
Among cyclical industries, this study shows Petro-Chemical industry. Petro-Chemical industry is an important industry of making our life plentiful. Also this industry is related to economic situation and cycle. Recently, analysts experience difficulty to estimate this industry. Because there are many factors to estimate this industry such as raw material price, supply and demand and economic cycle.
In this article, some twists to value Petro-Chemical company using discount cash flow model valuation model. Through analysis, this study shows how to estimate Petro-Chemical industry more efficiently.
이번 논문의 목적은 경기변동형 기업의 가치평가 방법을 실제 사례를 통해 연구해서 올바른 가치평가 방법에 대해 알아보는 것이다.
회사의 실적이 경기의 변동에 따라 움직이는 경기 변동형 기업은 경기 변동에 따라 이익의 변동이 심하기 때문에 기업가치평가가 쉽지 않다. 일반적으로 기업가치평가에 적용하는 방법들은 향후 장기간의 성장과 이익을 예상하여 평가를 진행하는데 경기 순환에 따라 성장과 이익이 변동이 있는 기업들의 경우 성장과 이익에 대한 예측이 쉽지 않기 때문에 평가에 어려운 점이 있다.
이러한 경기 변동형 산업 중 대표되는 산업으로 석유 화학 산업을 들 수 있다. 석유 화학 산업은 산업 구조를 고도화 시키는데 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 산업으로 나프타나 천연가스를 원료로 하여 기초 유분, 합성수지, 합성 섬유원료, 합성 고무 등을 생산 공급하는 공업을 총칭하고 있다. 철강 산업과 함께 자본 집약적 장치산업으로 양대 지주를 이루며 각종 산업의 기초 자재를 공급하는 역할 및 전자재료와 같은 고부가가치 제품을 생산하는 첨단 산업이기도 하다.
따라서 이 글의 목적은 경기 변동에 따라 회사의 이익의 변동이 발생되는 석유 화학 업종의 가치 평가에 대한 실무적인 접근 방법을 연구하고 이에 따른 이론의 실제 적용을 통해 석유 화학 업종의 합리적인 가치 평가를 시도함에 있다
