This study examines whether the abnormal return is predictable, based on the information of an earnings announcement. I find that abnormal returns cannot be achieved by using PEAD strategy in Korea. There is no evidence that stock prices do not fully reflect the implications of current earnings for future earnings. The result does not support the hypothesis that market perceives quarterly earnings as a seasonal random walk. Therefore, I conclude that the stock price response to earnings announcement is not under-reacted.
Finally, I measure the degree of market's misperception. But the measure is not good for the stock market in Korea. In stead, I interpret the measure and suggest new implications of it theoretically.
