This thesis contains current reference circuits and output driving circuits for current-mode column driver ICs to display medium and large size display systems.
First, the uniform current generation methods and circuits for current-mode column driver ICs were proposed and designed. The designed circuits generate currents in reference circuits of each column driver ICs using a reference current source. The generated currents in the operation of a current comparator which is designed by switched-capacitor circuits were desensitized in chip-to-chip variation such as transistor mismatch. The implemented circuit was simulated using 0.35um CMOS process and shown the applicability to medium and large size AMOLED displays.
Second, output driving circuits with current feedback were proposed. In the operation of local feedback loop, the circuits sensed low currents such as tens of nA and droved massive parasitic capacitances. The proposed circuit was applicable to 2T-1C pixel circuit. The specifications for the driving circuit are about SXGA monitors. The implemented circuits are simulated using 13.5V CMOS process and not affected by variation of threshold voltage and mobility of TFTs.
