With maturation of design business, bounds of design area and ways of performing the design project between designers and clients are getting more complex and flexible. This situation has a certain possibility to raise critical problems like the degradation of the outcome's quality. It is due to the insufficiency of delivering the design principle from the designer to the design executer. A design executer is a concept role model who has responsiblities on executing the final design outcomes and deriving the original design to various design subjects. The more diverse the subjects of the design derivation, the more often the problems can occur. Also the design executer with poor understanding of professional design knowledge can cause trouble more frequently. Therefore proposing a novel concept for design delivery form is needed which can support design executers to produce the final outcome with correspondence to the initial design principle established by the original designer.
To accomplish the research objectives, the characteristics and possible problems of the design delivery forms were considered from the understanding of the essence and types of design delivery forms. And the way of solution was explored with an inquiry into the related studies on the derivation of design and design expert systems. The list of requirements was established from the in-depth interviews with practical designers and a questionnaire survey of design novices.
A concept model of new design delivery method which can facilitates the execution and the derivation of a design principle was proposed upon the requirements. It is an ‘interactive design manual’ which is an interactive shared web space with the interfaces for structuring the design principles, and the algorithm for the intelligent transformation of design elements. A prototype with flash application was developed based on a certain application scenario. The case study on designers and the staffs in small firms was carried out. Findings from the case study reveal the usefulness of application and the possibilities of future growth.
디자인 관련 비즈니스가 성숙해가면서 디자인 대상의 범위 및 디자이너와 클라이언트 간의 프로젝트 수행방식이 복합적이고 유동적으로 변화하고 있다. 그에 따라 디자인 전달방식의 형태도 변화하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 디자이너가 전달하는 디자인 원칙이 결과물을 생산하는 디자인 실행자에게 충분히 전달되지 않아 디자인 결과물의 완성도가 떨어지는 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 디자인 대상이 다양할수록, 디자인 원칙에 대한 디자인 실행자의 이해도가 낮을수록 문제가 발생할 여지가 많아진다. 따라서 디자이너가 수립한 디자인 원칙이 잘 지켜진 최종 결과물을 디자인 실행자가 생산하는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 새로운 개념의 디자인 전달방식의 개념이 필요하다.
연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 디자인 전달방식의 이해를 통해 전통적인 개념의 전달 방식 및 새롭게 등장하는 전달방식의 특징과 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 파악하였다. 또한 관련 연구의 고찰을 통해 연구 목표의 해결을 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 실무자 인터뷰를 통해 기존의 전달방식의 문제점이 파악되고 새로운 디자인 전달방식의 요구사항이 수립되었다. 또한 디자인 초심자 설문을 통해 디자인 실행자가 디자인 전문 지식이 없는 상황에 대한 디자인 전달방식의 요구 조건이 고려되었다.
수립된 요구사항을 바탕으로 디자인의 실행과 파생을 지원할 수 있는 새로운 디자인 전달방식의 개념모델이 제안되었다. 디자인 원칙의 단계적인 구조화 및 지능적인 알고리즘을 지원하는 인터랙티브한 공유공간으로써의 인터랙티브 디자인 매뉴얼의 형식이다. 세부 적용 상황 시나리오를 바탕으로 인터랙티브 디자인 매뉴얼의 프로토토입이 개발되었으며 실제 디자이너와 벤쳐기업 직원들을 대상으로 한 사례연구가 진행되었다. 디자이너에 의해 생성된 디자인 사례들은 디자인 전문지식이 없는 디자인 실행자들이 잘 이해할 수 있도록 구조화되었으며 직관적인 조작이 가능한 인터랙티브 공간에서의 디자인 실행 및 파생이 가능하였다. 사례연구 대상자들에 대한 심층 인터뷰를 통해 새로운 디자인 전달방식의 비즈니스 모델로써의 발전 가능성을 확인하였다.
