In the software development, meeting the planned schedule, cost, and quality is very important for completing the project successfully. Also, meeting such planned one depends on the software development process, therefore the deviation(difference between planed value and actual value about schedule, cost, and quality) management through software development process is an important activity. The deviation management includes taking actions regardless of the process, performing actions on the process without modifying the process, and performing actions on the process after modifying the process. According to the previous researches on the deviation management, performing actions on the process after modifying the process is the safest and cleanest approach to the deviation management.
We propose an approach that supports modification of the process for the deviation management using the case-based reasoning and experience base. When the deviation occurs during the software development, the proposed approach provides experiences as a guide to the project manager. These experiences include several information on the previous projects, which have the similar characteristics and deviation with the current project. The information provided by the experiences also includes the activities taken to manage the deviation and effectiveness of the activities.
The proposed approach has two advantages. First, it provide a guide that helps the project manager to modify the process using past experience that managed the similar deviations. Second, it helps the project manager to select the most appropriate experience to manage the current project’s deviation by providing expected benefits on the schedule, cost, and quality when the experience is applied to the current project.
소프트웨어 개발 시 계획된 일정, 비용, 품질을 만족시키는 것은 프로젝트를 성공적으로 완료하는데 있어서 중요한 요소이다. 이러한 계획된 요소의 만족은 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스에 의해 크게 좌우되므로 프로젝트 진행 시 일정, 비용, 품질의 관리에 있어 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스를 통한 계획 대비 실제 값의 deviation 관리는 매우 중요한 작업이다. Deviation 관리 기법으로는 프로세스에 명시되지 않은 활동을 통한 방법과, 프로세스 수정 없이 프로세스에 명시된 활동을 통한 방법, 프로세스 수정 후 프로세스에 명시된 활동을 통한 방법이 있다. Deviation 관리에 관한 기존의 연구에 의하면 프로세스 수정 후 프로세스에 명시된 활동을 통한 deviation 관리가 가장 안전하고 확실한 방법이다.
본 논문에서는 case-based reasoning과 experience base를 이용하여 프로젝트 개발 시 발생하는 deviation을 관리를 위한 프로젝트 프로세스를 수정 지원 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝트 개발 도중에 deviation이 발생할 경우 프로젝트 관리자에게 발생한 deviation 관리를 위한 가이드로서 현재 프로젝트의 특성과 유사한 과거의 프로젝트에서, 현재 발생한 deviation과 유사한 과거의deviation을 관리하였던 프로젝트의 experience를 제공한다. 제공되는 experience에는 deviation 관리를 위하여 어떻게 프로젝트 프로세스를 수정하였는지에 대한 정보와, 효율성에 대한 정보가 포함되어 있다.
본 논문에서 제시한 방법은 다음과 같은 두 가지의 장점을 가지고 있다. 첫째는 유사한 deviation을 관리하였던 experience을 가이드로 제공함으로써, 관리자가 deviation 관리를 위하여 프로젝트 프로세스를 수정하는데 있어서 도움을 준다는 점이며, 둘째는 관련된 experience의 적용시에 얻을 수 있는 기대 효과를 관리자에게 정량적으로 제공함으로써, 관리자가 진행중인 프로젝트에 적합한experience를 선택하는 기준을 제공한다는 점이다.
