Intense global competition and dramatically advanced information technology are forcing every company to look at all aspects of management such as general affairs, personnel affairs, accounting, production and R&D to reduce costs and become more competitive. In reality, one company has not been able to do better only with internal resources than other companies do. Accordingly, it' s reasonable for many companies to divert their attention to external resources. Outsourcing strategy is being highlighted as one of the management strategies to strengthen the original business of a company.
The purposes of this research are to identify which determinants affect manufacturing outsourcing in Printed Circuit Board(PCB) industry and to analyze the relationships between those determinants and the degree of manufacturing outsourcing. To achieve these purposes, various theoretical frameworks are reviewed and have been built into a new research framework based on contingency theory. Six variables to affect the degree of manufacturing outsourcing are classified into external, internal contingency variable and financial benefit. The size of supply market in external contingency variable, core competence in internal contingency variable and financial expected benefit in financial benefit are correlated with the degree of manufacturing outsourcing.
In a domestic manufacturing company, manufacturing outsourcing is not so popular compared with a foreign developed company, but the specialized outsourcing company which can give financial benefit with high-quality technology and economics of scale will activate domestic manufacturing outsourcing.
글로벌화에 따른 무한경쟁과 정보통신기술의 비약적인 발전에 의하여 기업간의 경쟁이 한층 심화되면서 대부분의 기업들은 비용절감과 경쟁력 강화를 위하여 재무, 인사, 생산, R&D 등 모든 분야에 관심을 가지기 시작했다. 그러나, 하나의 회사가 내부 자원만을 가지고는 다른 회사보다 보다 우수한 경쟁력을 유지하기 힘든 것이 현실이다. 그래서, 많은 기업들이 외부 자원에 관심을 가지기 시작했으며, 지속적인 경쟁우위를 확보하기 위해서 핵심사업이나 핵심역량에 자원을 집중하고 덜 필요한 기능을 과감히 버리거나 외부의 전문업체에게 위탁하여 수행하는 아웃소싱에 관한 논의가 고조되고 있다.
본 연구는 인쇄회로산업에서 제조 아웃소싱에 영향을 미치는 결정요인을 정의하고 아웃소싱의 정도와의 상관관계를 분석하고자 하였다. 본 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서 거래비용 관점, 자원기반 관점, 전략적 관점 등의 문헌연구를 바탕으로 상황이론에 입각한 분석을 위한 연구모형을 설정하였으며, 6개의 독립변수를 내적, 외적 상황변수 및 재무성과에서 추출하였으며, 이 중에서 외적 상황변수의 공급시장의 크기, 내적 상황변수의 핵심역량, 재무성과의 재무 기대효과가 아웃소싱의 정도와 상관관계가 있음을 알 수 있었다.
국내 제조업체의 경우 제조 아웃소싱이 선진국에 비해서 활성화되지 않았으나, 국내 아웃소싱업체가 높은 품질과 기술력으로 전문화되고, 규모의 경제를 형성하여 비용우위를 제공할 수 있으면 제조 아웃소싱이 활성화 될 것이다.
