This thesis is an empirical study on valuing credit default swaps using the Das and Sundaram (2000) Model and Hull and White Model (2000). The HJM (1992) Model uses the forward rate as the discount factor when risk-free bonds are priced and Das and Sundaram extend this model and use the forward rate and forward spread as input variables when they price credit derivatives. We can compute credit default swaps using the Das and Sundaram (2000) Model and compare this with the Hull and White (2000) Model. The Das and Sundaram (2000) model provides flexibility when credit default swaps are priced. We also did some scenario analysis with recovery rate, forward volatility and forward spread volatility.
