For an enhanced mode of human computer interaction, diverse aspects and functions of human emotions have been adopted in user's interaction based applications such as computer games, Internet communication systems, and educational tutor systems. The emotions also appear in personal or interpersonal documents with emotionally explicit expressions as an important channel for effective communication.
In this thesis, I propose a method to identify the flow of emotions from natural language documents, especially from the essays of teenagers on their concerns. The flow of emotions is a sequence of emotional states, where each state is defined by eight categories of basic emotions, with several features such as duration, prospect, directionality, and expressiveness. The proposed method employs two major steps that first extract information of emotion from a sentence with a combinatory categorial grammar framework and that identify how emotional states change as the new information is accumulated sentence after sentence. I also provide a multimedia therapeutic system that automatically generates a Flash animation with the emotional flow of the user.
사용자와의 상호작용이 중심이 되는 게임, 채팅 및 튜터 시스템과 같은 컴퓨터 시스템에서는 상호작용을 높이기 위하여 감정의 여러 역할 및 기능을 활용하고 있다. 이러한 감정은 일기, 메일 및 대화와 같은 문서에서도 효과적인 의사표현 수단으로써 여러가지 형태로 표현된다.
본 논문에서는 자연언어문서 가운데 심리상태가 잘 드러나는 상담문서로부터 사용자의 감정흐름을 파악하는 방법을 제안한다. 감정흐름은 변화된 일련의 감정상태들로 각 감정상태들은 기본감정과 지속기간, 시점, 방향성, 표현여부와 같은 자질들의 조합으로 표현된다. 본 논문에서는 결합범주문법을 이용하여 각 문장으로부터 감정을 파악하기 위한 요소를 분석하고 이전 문장에서 분석된 정보들과 함께 현재 문장까지의 감정상태들을 파악한다.
또한, 사용자의 감정흐름에 따른 플래시 애니메이션을 자동으로 생성해주는 응용시스템을 제시한다.
