ERP has been implemented worldwide as a means of realizing BPR with its globally standardized features. In order to investigate the implementation factors, survey questionnaires were sent to 1500 manufacturing companies in Korea with 131 valid responses. This survey is based on the similar one employed for the cases in Sweden, and the U.S. The survey results have been compared with those of these two countries, to come up with some differences and similarities among major concerns of the research.
As for the similarities, the companies in the three countries preferred a big-bang implementation strategy. It is found that system simplification, standardization and replacement of legacy systems were their motivations for ERP implementation. As for the differences unique to Korean companies, higher degree customization and shorter implementation time periods are noted. The company size in terms of the number of employees showed high correlations the effectiveness of ERP implementation.
ERP는 국제표준으로서 BPR을 실현시키는 한 수단으로 전세계에 널리 보급되었다. 미국과 스웨덴에서 시행된 설문을 바탕으로 한국의 1500개 제조기업에 설문을 보냈으며 131개의 유효 설문을 회수할 수 있었다. 연구 결과를 토대로 3개국을 비교한 결과, 대부분 유사한 결과를 보였으나 일부 차이를 보였다. 주요 공통점으로 3개국 모두 빅뱅전략을 선호했고, 시스템의 단순화 및 효준화, 기존 시스템의 교체가 ERP의 주된 구축동기였던 것으로 나타났다. 한국의 경우, 커스트마이징의 정도가 크고, 도입기간이 상대적으로 빠르다는 특징을 보였다. 한편, 직원수가 많은 기업일수록 ERP도입 효과가 큰 것으로 조사되었다.
