Music in a MP3 format has recently become explosively popular. Automatic summarization of MP3 music is highly required by many applications such as content-based music retrieval and on-line music distribution. In this paper, we propose a summarization method of popular songs by using their music structures. We can extract a chorus, verse, introduction section by analyzing typical music structures of popular songs. The summary of a popular song is constructed in the following steps. We first extract the features of each frame of MP3 music in a compressed domain. Then a song is segmented and feature vectors are constructed as input data of support vector machine. Next, sections are classified by using support vector machines. Additionally we detect the boundary of each section based on the classified results. Finally, a summary is generated according to the length which users want. In our evaluations, we show the accuracy of detected music structures and evaluate the quality of summary results.
MP3 음악은 수 년간 대중적으로 널리 사용되어 왔다. 이에 따라, 자동화된 MP3 음악의 요약은 내용 기반의 음악 검색이나 인터넷 상의 음악 다운로드 등의 응용에 매우 필요하다. 우리는 음악 구조를 이용한 대중 가요의 요약 방법을 제안한다. 음악 형식론을 기반으로 하여, 대중 가요의 일반적인 구조를 분석하고, 이를 통해 하나의 음악을 대표하는 부분을 찾아낸다. 제안한 방식의 음악 요약은 다음의 과정을 통해 생성된다. 먼저, MP3 음악의 각 프레임의 피처를 추출한다. 다음으로, support vector machine을 사용하여 코러스, 버스(verse), 전주 섹션을 분류한다. 분류된 결과를 기반으로 하여 각 섹션의 경계(boundary)를 감지한다. 끝으로, 사용자가 원하는 길이에 따라 추출된 섹션으로 구성된 요약을 생성한다. 우리는 실험을 통해 감지된 음악 구조 요소의 정확성을 보여주고, 요약의 품질을 평가한다.
