It is a challenging problem to reconstruct a 3D real object from given 2D images of the object. The aim of 3D reconstruction is to generate virtual views of the object. It can be applied to 3DTV, medical treatment, education, virtual reality and games. Geometry-based 3D reconstruction is a natural choice for 3D reconstruction. Currently, most geometry-based 3D reconstruction methods require calibrated input images. But image calibration is itself a difficult problem. The visual hull, a kind of geometry-based 3D reconstruction techniques, requires that foreground objects in the input images be segmented from the background. These problems cause errors at the first step of the modeling process. In this paper, a new geometry-based 3D reconstruction method is proposed. It requires neither calibrated nor segmented input images. Therefore, it has convenience for image acquisition. It uses multi-view images of an object on a turn-table. Spatio-temporal solid can be formed by arranging these images to time axis. There are patterns that can be modeled as sinusoids in this solid. Amplitudes and phases of sinusoids indicate 3D coordinates of an object. Therefore, 3D model of an object can be calculated by estimating amplitudes and phases of sinusoids. Hough transform is used for robust estimation. Experimental results show that this method can reconstruct a 3D real object easily without camera calibration and segmentation.
