As partnership networks are temporary rather than permanent in virtual organizations, the coordination of agile inter-organizational workflow becomes an important issue. But the latter is difficult because of the autonomy of participating organizations and the frequency and range of change request types.
In this dissertation, an agent-based framework for adaptable inter-organization workflow management is proposed. Agent technology is employed to satisfy the requirements of an adaptive inter-organizational workflow, such as the encapsulation of the process knowledge of participating organizations, dynamic formation of a temporal virtual organization to serve an inter-organizational workflow instance, and dynamic reconfiguration of a virtual organization to adapt to change requests from customers. In the framework, a change propagation model is used to represent the knowledge to handle a change request - through the coordination of participating agents that act on behalf of the participating organizations. The plug and play functionality of change propagation models enables the easy addition of new types of change request. The detail of the framework is explained via a real inter-organizational workflow.
정보 기술의 발달과 빠르게 변화하는 업무 환경의 변화로 인해서 가상 조직으로 불리는 새로운 작업 방식이 등장하게 되었다. 가상 조직에서의 협력자 간 네트워크가 영구적이기 보다는 임시적인 성격을 띄게 되면서, 참여 기업들 간의 협력(collaboration)을 넘어서 기업 간 워크플로우의 조율(coordination)이 중요한 과제로 등장하였다. 하지만 참여 기업들이 갖는 자율성과 빈번하게 바뀌는 변화 요청들로 인해서 적응적인 조율을 수행하는 데 있어서 어려움을 겪고 있다.
본 논문에서는 적응적 기업간 워크플로우 관리를 위한 에이전트 기반의 프레임웍인 ADIOF를 제시하고자 한다. ADIOF에서는 대화 사슬(conversation link)에 동적으로 정의되는 다양한 변화에 대한 처리 방식(protocol)을 각 참여 소프트웨어 에이전트들이 해석하고 실행할 수 있도록 지원해 준다. ADIOF에서는 변화 처리 모형(change propagation model)을 통해서 변화 요청에 대해서 참여 에이전트들 간의 조율 과정을 저장하게 된다. 이러한 변화 처리 방식은 조율 범위와 해당 범위 내에서 요구되는 일련의 메시지들로 정의되기 때문에 새로운 변화 유형에 대해서도 손쉽게 그 처리 방식을 등록함으로써 적응적 조율을 가능케 해 준다. 그리고, 변화 처리에 관한 기업 내부의 정책은 이러한 전체적 조율 방식과 분리되어 자율적으로 운영되는 참여 기업 내에서 저장되어 관리되게 된다.
